Investor impact is a claim about the capital: what the money enables, finances or moves. Investee impact is a claim about the asset: what the company, project or security does. A document that uses 'impact' without specifying one carries both readings at once.
Two launches, two kinds of claim
Stoxx and Osmosis brought out a transition factor suite of 48 indices, and Finance Earth, FSD Africa and FSD Africa Investments launched the Africa Nature Impact Fund. The suite spans single-factor, multi-factor and sustainability-integrated designs built on Stoxx Investable Market Indices for institutional investors. The fund targets $100 million, with a $20 million first close sought in 2027 and a proposed $6.6 million cornerstone commitment from FSD Africa Investments.
The index suite's label describes how securities are chosen; the nature fund's label describes what the capital is put into. ESMA's note covers both impact and transition claims, and only the fund carries the word 'impact' in its name.
